By far, GP Transco is the best company I have ever worked for. The equipment is top notch with great technology. Maintenance department is so thorough that I could not believe it. Every time a truck goes into our shop, EVERYTHING and I do mean everything is checked. If anything should be found that needs taken care of, it gets done then. It's nice not to have to wait for parts to be ordered (it does happen, but not often). My fleet manager is amazing as well. Safety is a big deal here and that was my number one reason as to why I came here. I feel respected and treated like family by everyone which you don't see often. I've been here 7+ months and appreciate that I have never been shorted on anything on my check. That right there is the icing on the cake.
My fiancé just started driving for GP on Monday. We both really liked the orientation atmosphere. We worked mostly with Adam and Jose who both gave us a lot of valuable information and made sure we were well taken care of as well as made sure we were prepared for hitting the road. The HQ is gorgeous! Very clean and clearly well maintained. Everyone we interacted with was nice and friendly. I will update as we spend some time here. So far I definitely recommend it if you are interested in being a professional driver with high standards and taking pride in your company. Did I mention the trucks are beautiful?
GP Transco is truly a compassionate and highly professional company to work for, known for its exemplary manners. If you ever face challenges with your dispatcher, it's important to communicate with upper management, recognizing the significant impact your dispatcher can have on your career at GP. From personal experience, I can attest that GP Transco is unparalleled as the best trucking company I've ever worked with. During my lowest point in life, they provided exceptional care and support. I wholeheartedly and compassionately recommend GP Transco!
Miles are too low for the starting pay amount reset every weekend doesn't help either can't even clear 2800 Miles which is the minimum in my opinion be lucky if i hit 2500 benefits are very reasonably priced. Dispatch is Respectful for the most part equipment top notch one plus I can say is they do pay you for your time detention layover the whole 9 yards without a fuss which in this industry is rare most companies try to cheat the drivers they don't
GP transco is overall a good company. I've had my Issues with them but they are quick to resolve the problem. They want the drivers to be happy and willing to make that possible.
They have some of the best equipment in the trucking industry. Dispatch is very professional and outstanding. Overall I am happy with this company and I would recommend GP Transco to others. I been and still am employed with the company for almost 10 months now.
This company is very much overhyped. They advertise/promote a lot on social media, mostly through other drivers on YouTube. Do NOT believe the hype! This company is full of lies. They claim to be one of the top 5 highest paying companies out there but when I worked there, my paychecks said otherwise. On average, I got $1,200 before taxes a week. Mind you, that's $1,200 a week, running your clock down to less than 30 minutes a day, 65 or so hours a week! Insurance was also a joke. For my spouse and I, it was about $500/month. I was getting $1,200/week as a local driver, only working 8-9 hours a day. The reason I went OTR, was because everyone said you'd make more money, maybe at other companies but not at GP Transco!
If you like running at nights, think again. They want you to run when they're open so expect to run between 4-5AM to whenever you're almost out of hours.
Unless you live in the midwest, you can expect to be out 4 weeks then home for 4 days. I've heard Florida is worse though, much worse! Honestly, I was expecting better home time options with this company but it's just another OTR company.
They have the worst load planning I've ever seen. After you've delivered your load and have called dispatch that you're unloaded, expect to wait an hour or more for a load and when they give you that pickup time, you can already expect to be late picking it up and delivering it. Mind you, this company, which claims is very professional and acts like a big company, only uses brokered loads.
If a broker sends you a text with a tracking link, the company requires you to download that app so the broker can track you. Please be aware, this is your own personal phone! This is the data that YOU are paying for and NO the company will not reimburse you, which I don't think they understand is illegal under IL law.
Speaking of breaking laws, this company also broke other DOT laws, which I won't be discussing here as I have filed a complaint with the DOT.
They also short you on pay. I was told we get paid detention after 2 hours but I was told if I've been at a dock for 2 hours and 20 something minutes, they won't waste their time paying unless it's been at least 30 minutes after the 2 hours. I don't care if I've been there for 15 minutes after the 2 hour window, YOU pay me what I'm owed!
In short, you're going to be running your 11/14 hour clock every day, sitting at horrible places for hours a day, making your day even longer. You can expect to shut down when finding a parking space is a PITA. You'll be doing your 34 in the most boring places ever. All to make a lousy $1,200 a week BEFORE taxes!
I really did like working here. I drove with GP for ten months and was told by several people in management, safety, and dispatch that I was one of their better drivers. I never had problems with anyone. Main reason why I left was to switch from dry van to flatbed. And that’s what I told my Dispatch and my team that worked around me. Thought I had left on a good note until yesterday when I found out that they took $200 out of one of my 10/13 Paycheck for “Truck cleaning” once I called them out on it, they were hesitant to talk very shady business practice. Then I was told that my truck was extremely dirty. I cleaned out my Truck before returning it to their main location in Joliet Illinois on Monday, October 9. I found out the $200 charge was put in on October 2. I tried to fight the charge with them, but they won’t. They will be hearing from Illinois Department of labor. Very shady company avoid at all costs! Typical Chicago trucking companies
Been driving here a little over a year with no complaints. Great company to work for with even better equipment.
